World Cup 2019: Jason Roy ruled out for the next two matches

England star batsman Jason Roy has been ruled out of the ICC World Cup for the next two matches due to a hamstring tear that he suffered during the match against West Indies. Roy’s injury is a grade 1 tear which is not serious but any pressure on it can aggravate the problem.

The opener left the field during the eighth over with tightness in his left hamstring. Earlier what looked like just the stiffness got confirmed as a tear in the MRI scan on Saturday (June 15). This means, just like India’s Bhuvaneshwar Kumar who had to leave the ground within two overs of the first innings, even Jason Roy would be rested for the next two matches against Afghanistan and Sri Lanka.

Meanwhile, Captain Eoin Morgan’s is recovering well from a back spasm but is not yet clear if he will be playing in the upcoming matches or not.

Moeen Ali is the likely replacement for Roy. Joe Denly and Dawid Malan may also join the 15-member squad if any team member needs to be dropped due to injury threat.
