Harbhajan Singh pulls out of IPL citing 'personal reasons' after Suresh Raina

Veteran off-spinner Harbhajan Singh has withdrawn from the Indian Premier League (IPL), 2020 citing "personal reasons".


Veteran off-spinner Harbhajan Singh has withdrawn from the Indian Premier League (IPL), 2020 citing “personal reasons”.

According to NDTV, Harbhajan Singh conveyed his decision to quit, to the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on Friday (September 4).

Singh had chosen to stay back instead of travelling with the team to UAE. Earlier, sources had been expecting him join the team in two weeks. “Harbhajan will not be travelling with the team to Dubai due to personal reasons. He is expected to join the squad in two weeks,” a CSK official had said on Thursday (September 3).

According to the official, the team left for Dubai on Friday at around 12.45 pm.

Harbhajan Singh is the second CSK player to withdraw from this year’s IPL citing personal reasons, after Suresh Raina. Raina had returned home after travelling with the team to the UAE.

The 40-year-old spinner was also not part of the brief training camp that the CSK conducted.

Star all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja and Shardul Thakur too missed the camp due to personal reasons, the official said. Thakur joined the squad on Wednesday while Jadeja reportedly flew in on Thursday.
