New Zealand qualifies for the World Cup final as they beat India by 18 runs on Wednesday. Early wickets of top order batsmen — Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, KL Rahul and Dinesh Karthik — in the first 10 overs had put India under tremendous pressure.

The Kiwi’s Matt Henry was declared the Player of the Match.

New Zealand’s Trent Boult and Matt Henry seemed indomitable as they restricted the batsmen from going for big shots. Boult picked the crucial wicket of skipper Kohli while Henry dismissed Rohit, Rahul and Karthik.

New Zealand set a target of 240 runs against India as the semi-final match resumed on Wednesday after it was called off on Tuesday due to rain.

On Tuesday, the Kiwis had started slow after losing the wickets of Martin Guptill and Henry Nicholls early but managed to score 211 runs in 46.1 overs for the loss of five before rain stopped play.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar picked up three wickets while Yuzvendra Chahal, Ravindra Jadeja, Jasprit Bumrah and Hardik Pandya took one each.

Ross Taylor led the New Zealand scorecard with 74 runs before being run out by a sharp direct hit from Jadeja. Skipper Kane Williamson had earlier taken 67 to help the Kiwis build a defendable total.
