Web-series on fugitive business tycoon Vijay Mallya soon
The flamboyant businessman whose life witnessed a roller coaster ride in his career spanning three decades with his interest ranging from liquor to airlines and fashion industry, will now be made into a web-series.
In the first week of August, an important document in the case against erstwhile liquor baron and fugitive business tycoon Vijay Mallya went missing from the files of the Supreme Court. The apex court later posted the next hearing to August 20. The business tycoon who’s applied for asylum in the UK is avoiding extradition to India after facing ₹9,000 crore fraud at his defunct Kingfisher Airlines.

Almighty Motion Picture, led by actor-producer Prableen Kaur, announced that it acquired rights to the book ‘The Vijay Mallya Story’ authored by noted business journalist Giriprakash Krishnamoorthy. The book published by Penguin India chronicles the journey of the entrepreneur since his birth, until he left for the UK.
Almighty Motion Picture which debuted with their maiden Web Series ‘Mastram’ on MX Player, will produce the web series on Mallya in association with PZ Pictures, Kaur took to Twitter to inform. While the cast and crew information is not detailed, the shooting is slated to begin next month, as per the producers.

Giriprakash, the Chief of Bureau of a business daily said he thought people had lost interest in Mallya and he never imagined that his book would be adapted for the screens. Giriprakahs’s book, released in 2014, stops when Mallya sold United Spirits to Diageo. Since then a lot has happened.
“Good to know that Vijay Mallya’s story still sparks in people’s mind. I thought they had forgotten about him. While the production for the web-series is likely to start from next month, on which OTT platform it will be streamed will be decided later by the producers,” Giriprakash said.
Mallya’s family’s tryst with liquor started after his father Vittal started acquiring shares of United Breweries and slowly took over the reins of that company.The business empire that Vittal created helped Vijay Mallya raise his in the business domain. Known to have a lavish spending, Mallya even bought a 200-year old sword belonging to Tipu Sultan, at an auction in London for Rs 1.5 crore.
The Vijay Mallya Story which captures the slice of Mallya’s life, how his interest in aviation goes back to his early years, how his airline attracted international interest in the early days, not to mention, his brand creation with Kingfisher swimsuit calendar, the much sought after product in the fashion world.
Not to forget, the business tycoon had a fond interest with Tirupati lord Venkateshwara temple. After procuring the Airbus aircrafts from Toulouse, France-based aircraft maker for Kingfisher Airlines, he made them do a circumambulation atop the temple area before landing in India.
That and more will be streamed on your mobile screens soon. With the script for the series in its final stages, the production company seems to have already roped in a prominent Bollywood actor to essay the role of the industrialist.
