MP CM heeds to Agnihotri’s request, announces Genocide Museum in Bhopal

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan agreed to a request from ‘The Kashmir Files’ director Vivek Agnihotri and declared a Genocide Museum in Bhopal to emphasise on the atrocities committed against Kashmiri Pandits.

Chouhan made the announcement at the inauguration of a three-day film festival organised by RSS-affiliate Chitra Bharati in Bhopal on Friday (March 25). Agnihotri was a guest at the function.

When asked to speak, Agnihotri asked the Chief Minister to set up a Genocide Museum and an art centre in Bhopal. Chouhan responded promptly. “Vivej ji asked me to open a genocide museum in Bhopal. I announce that such a museum be built in the state capital. We will give land and resources for the purpose,” said the Chief Minister.

Chouhan said the museum will not symbolise hatred or violence, but highlight the violence meted out to Kashmiri Pandits in the 90s and help people become better versions of themselves.

The Chief Minister also lauded Agnihotri for making ‘The Kashmir Files’ and bringing out the pain and agony of lakhs of Kashmiri Pandits who got displaced from the Valley about 30 years ago.

Agnihotri thanked CM Chouhan for making his film tax-free in Madhya Pradesh. Agnihotri, however, evaded response to a media question about Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal’s suggestion to upload the film on YouTube instead of seeking tax concessions.
