Hanuman Beniwal, the chief of Rashtriya Loktantrik Party—an ally of the BJP, on Thursday (July 16) alleged that former Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje had been making strong efforts to save the Ashok Gehlot government in the state.

In a series of tweets, Beniwal, who is also a Lok Sabha member from Nagaur constituency, claimed that Raje had also made calls to many Congress MLAs in this regard. He added that Raje spoke to each of the Jat MLAs in Sikar and Nagaur districts and asked them to maintain a distance from Sachin Pilot.

A few days ago, Beniwal alleged that Gehlot had made attempts to poach three RLP MLAs during the Rajya Sabha elections last month. He also claimed that phones of MPs and MLAs were being taped in Rajasthan by the state polices special operation group (SOG) in violation of the right to privacy.

The tweets came two days after Assembly Speaker CP Joshi sent disqualification notices to former Deputy Chief Minister Sachin Pilot and 18 other rebel Congress MLAs after the party complained that the MLAs had defied a whip to attend two legislature party meetings. Pilot was also removed from the post of Rajasthan Pradesh Congress Committee president.
