Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday (January 26) greeted the nation on the occasion of 72nd Republic Day, the day when the Indian Constitution had come into force in 1950.

“Wishing all the people of India a Happy Republic Day. Jai Hind!” Modi said in a tweet in Hindi and English.

The prime minister will visit the National War Memorial in the morning, marking the commencement of the Republic Day Parade ceremony.

A shortened ceremony due to COVID-19 restrictions, the parade will witness many firsts this year: no chief guests, shorter route, participation of fewer soldiers, fewer spectators, and no children under 15.

The parade, which will begin at 9 am and conclude with fly-past at 11:25 am, will see the participation of 17 state tableaus, apart from the ones from central ministries and armed forces.
