Meghalaya CM's cover of 'Wasted Years' by Iron Maiden goes viral on social media


A video of Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma playing a popular song by an English band on his electric guitar has gone viral on social media. The cover version, posted on Instagram on Friday (May 22), shows the CM unwinding with music, after a few heavy Assembly sessions.

Sangma covered the iconic number, Wasted Years, of English heavy metal band Iron Maiden. The video has been shared widely on Twitter and Instagram.

In the caption, Sangma mentioned that he was “unwinding with Iron Maiden stuff after a hectic three-day Assembly session”. So far, the video has got over 32,000 views. Many social media users who came across the song, praised the Chief Minister for his skills on the electric guitar. Many fans Iron Maiden too appreciated the CM for his humble and honest attempt at covering the song.

Iron Maiden is a popular metal band which was formed in London in 1975. The band has produced numerous albums, labels, and compilations to its name. It comprises drummers, bass guitarists, songwriters, singers. Steve Harris was the primary bassist and songwriter of the band.
