Sushant Singh Rajput's death: Kangana Ranaut summoned to record statement

Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut has been summoned by Mumbai police on Friday (July 24)  to record her statement regarding actor Sushant Singh Rajput’s suicide.

Mumbai Police who are probing actor Sushant Singh Rajputs suicide sent a summon to the ‘Queen’ actor who is currently in Manali, Kangana’s lawyer confirmed to NDTV. He added that his team has informed the police that Kangana Ranaut is in Manali since March 17 and has requested police to send a team to the state to interrogate her in person due to the travel restrictions.

A Times of India report states that Mumbai police have been trying to serve summon to the actress since July 3 when they went to her Khar office. The manager at that time refused to accept the summons and did not share Kangana’s whereabouts either.

On the contrary Kangana’s team allege that the actress has been keen to record her statement but never really received a formal summons except a few phone calls from the police. The team even shared a screenshot on Twitter to prove their theory.

After Sushant Singhs alleged suicide at his apartment in Mumbai last month, Ranaut had lashed out at nepotism and cartels in Bollywood, alleging that Singh was its victim in a 2-minute video.

Ranaut, who is currently in Manali, might give her statement through email, said a police official.

The police have so far questioned a few Bollywood personalities in the case, including casting director Mukesh Chhabra, Yash Raj Films (YRF) Chairman Aditya Chopra, YRFs casting director Shanoo Sharma and film critic Rajeev Masand.
