Gautam Gambhir donates ₹1 crore towards Ram temple construction

Cricketer-turned-politician, Gautam Gambhir, donated ₹ 1 crore to the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust for the construction of the grand Ram Temple in Ayodhya


Cricketer-turned-politician Gautam Gambhir has donated ₹1 crore to the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust for the construction of the grand Ram temple in Ayodhya.

“A glorious Ram temple has been the dream of all Indians. Finally this long standing issue has been put to rest. This will pave the way for unity and tranquillity. A small contribution from me and my family has been made in this endeavour,” Gambhir, BJP MP representing East Delhi, said in a statement.

On January 15, President Ram Nath Kovind had donated ₹5 lakh to the Ram temple Trust. Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan had also donated ₹1 lakh. “One brick from my family shall also be placed in the construction of Lord Ram’s Temple. This is not a Ram Temple but a rashtra (national) temple,” Chouhan had tweeted in Hindi.

The nationwide donation drive for the construction of the Ram temple began on January 15. Crowdfunding for the temple will be held till February 27. There are coupons for ₹10, ₹100 and ₹1,000 donations and for donations of more than ₹2,000, receipts will be given.

The RSS, VHP, and other Hindu-affiliate groups have all been part of the fund-collection process towards the construction of the temple.
