Fresh coronavirus cases reported in Noida, Mumbai, Pune

India reported several fresh cases of coronavirus on Tuesday, including in Uttar Pradesh and Maharashtra. Besides, Maharashtra also reported its first COVID-19 casualty on Tuesday.


India reported several fresh cases of coronavirus on Tuesday (March 17), including in Uttar Pradesh and Maharashtra. Besides, Maharashtra also reported its first COVID-19 casualty on Tuesday.

In Uttar Pradesh’s Gautam Budh Nagar district, two more persons were found infected on Tuesday, taking the total number of cases in the district to three.

The two cases were reported from Noida’s Sector 78 and 100 with travel history to France, reported The Times of India quoting health officials. The Sector 78 patient had come into contact with his boss, who had tested positive earlier, it said.

Meanwhile, Maharashtra reported two more cases, one each in Mumbai and Pune, taking the total number of cases in the state to 41, reported news agency PTI.

The number of Covid-19 patients includes a 63-year-old man who died in Mumbai earlier in the day, becoming the first casualty of the disease in the state.

A 49-year-old man who had returned from the United States on March 7 tested positive on Tuesday. In Pune, a 26-year-old man who had returned from the US on March 14 tested positive, officials said.
