Fani: Odisha govt announces interim relief


The Government of Odisha announced interim relief for those affected by Cyclone Fani. An official press release said the district of Puri and parts of Khurdha were ‘extremely affected.’ The release said 50 kg of rice would be given to those covered by the food security scheme in addition to Rs 2000.

For the severely parts of Khurdha, an additional one-month rice quota and Rs 1000 would be provided.

The districts of Cuttak, Kendrapara, and Jagatsingpur have been listed as ‘severely affected.’ The people there would get an additional month’s rice allocation and Rs 500 each.

For all affected districts, a month’s pension and house building allowance as per the relief code would be provided.

For severely damaged houses, the relief amount would be Rs 95100. It is Rs 5200 for partially damaged structures, and  Rs 3200 for minor damages.

The houses completely damaged will be reconstructed under the housing schemes expeditiously.

The release said loss of agriculture, crops, animal resources, fisheries and horticulture would be assessed and compensated accordingly.

The release added that tree planting would be taken up on mission mode after relief and restoration.
