Don't worry, there's enough stock of essential items: Shah on lockdown 2.0

Union Home Minister Amit Shah, who has been away from the media and other public platforms amid the COVID-19 outbreak, on Tuesday (April 14) assured there is enough stock of food, medicines and other essential commodities, and that there is not need to worry about the extension of the lockdown till May 3.

Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had announced that the nationwide lockdown will be extended till May 3 to curb the COVID-19 pandemic.

Shah took to Twitter and appealed to the affluent section of the society to help the needy. “As the home minister of the country, I assure the public again that there is enough stock of food, medicines and other commodities in the country. No one should worry about that. I also request the affluent people to come forward and help the poor living nearby,” he tweeted.

The home minister also praised the state governments for their relentless work in fighting the deadly coronavirus. “The way all the state governments are working with the central government is truly praiseworthy. Now we have to deepen this coordination,” he said.

Shah also appreciated the contribution of doctors, healthcare workers, sanitation workers, police and the security personnel for their key role in fighting the pandemic. “Your courage and understanding in this odd situation inspires every Indian. Everyone should follow the guidelines and cooperate with them,” he added.
