Delhi Metro opens foot-over-bridge at Samaypur Badli connecting railway station

A new foot over bridge (FOB) has been been operational for commuters to connect the Delhi Metro’s Samaypur Badli metro station with the nearby Badli railway station and the Samaypur village. The FOB has been constructed by the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC).

It is 88 metres long and 7.1 metres wide, connecting the concourse of the Samaypur Badli Metro station of Delhi Metro Yellow Line with the platforms one and two of the Badli railway station. The Badli railway station comes under the Northern Railway zone of the Indian Railways network. The FOB connects both the metro station and the railway station, with the nearby Samaypur village.

A DMRC spokesperson told The Federal that the FOB will benefit the residents of Yadav Nagar and Shiv Vihar colonies of Samaypur, who will be able to access it to reach the metro station and railway station. Till now, people had to cross the railway tracks to reach the metro station.

The FOB will also have provisions of ramp and lift facilities for differently-abled commuters, which will be constructed soon. Indian Railway passengers using platform number-two of the Badli railway station can use the already existing lift of the metro station to reach the concourse level.

In order to facilitate Indian Railways passengers, a ticket counter has also been constructed in the metro station at the concourse level. Additionally, the approaching entry gate from main road towards platform two and the green area around staircases have also been redeveloped by DMRC, according to the requirements of Northern Railway.

Many of the Delhi Metro Phase 3 stations were designed in such a way that the entry or exit structures could also double up as the FOBs or underpasses for commuters who just intended to cross the roads. A number of stations on Ring Road, Outer Ring Road, Noida, Ghaziabad and old Delhi have such facilities.
