Modi, council of ministers to take oath on May 30

Narendra Modi will take oath as the Prime Minister for the second time on Thursday (May 30) at 7 pm at the Rashtrapathi Bhavan. The swearing-in ceremony of members of the Union Council of Ministers will also take place on the same day. President Ram Nath Kovind will administer the oath of office and secrecy to PM-elect Modi and the Union Council of Ministers.

Smriti Irani’s aide shot dead in Amethi

A close aide of Smriti Irani, the newly elected MP from Amethi Lok Sabha constituency in Uttar Pradesh, was shot dead by two men, with police not ruling out the possibility of it being a “political murder”. Surendra Singh (50), a former head of Baraulia village, was shot at around 11.30pm on Saturday (May 25), said additional superintendent of police Daya Ram. Earthquake of magnitude 8.0 strikes in Peru

The US Geological Survey says a large earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 8.0 has struck in north-central Peru. The quake, at a moderate depth of 114 kilometers struck at 2:41 am, 80 kilometers southeast of the village of Lagunas and 158 kilometers east-northeast of the larger town of Yurimaguas.

IMD warns about the rise in mercury levels for Telangana
