Ex-CM Narayan Rane's son detained after supporters throw mud on engineer

A week after a BJP MLA from Indore was jailed for assaulting a civic body official, a Congress MLA from Maharashtra and his supporters were on Thursday accused of throwing mud on an engineer near the Mumbai-Goa highway in Kankavali. Nitesh was later detained by Maharashtra police.

A video of the same was tweeted by news agency ANI. In the video, Maharashtra Congress MLA Nitesh Rane, son of former chief minister Narayan Rane, and his supporters are seen throwing mud on engineer Prakash Shedekar when he was inspecting a pothole-ridden highway. ANI reported that the engineer was later tied to the bridge on the river.

As per media reports, the MLA and his supporters were protesting against the bad condition of the road. They stated the protesters belong to the Swabhimaan Sangathan.

Last month, BJP leader Kailash Vijayvargiya’s son and Indore MLA Akash Vijayvargiya was jailed for thrashing a civic body official with a cricket bat. A video of the same circulated on social media. He was charged under various sections but later walked out on bail.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi had termed Vijayvargiya’s behaviour as unacceptable and media reports claim that the saffron party is mulling tough action against him.
