BJP MLA's daughter marries Dalit, fears life threat from father

In a video that has gone viral, a BJP MLA’s daughter has alleged that her father is after her life and has appealed to him to spare her, her husband and her in-laws. She also has sought police security for herself and her in-laws.

According to the police, Sakshi Mishra (23), daughter of a BJP MLA, Rajesh Misra, representing Bithari Chainpur in Bareilly (Uttar Pradesh) married Ajitesh Kumar (29), a Dalit on July 4 and since then has been living in a state of fear.

She posted a video on social media declaring her marriage last Thursday.

In another video, she is found appealing to the SSP of Bareilly to provide security cover to her as she fears that her life is under thereat from her father, brother and an associate. She also has announced that her father should be held responsible if something happens to her and her husband.

She is heard saying, “I am actually married. My in-laws are very nice people and I will be happy with them.”

Rajesh Pandey, Bareilly DIG, said that he has directed the SSP to extend security to the couple but added that police do not know how to protect her as she has not disclosed her whereabouts.

Sakshi has also moved to Allahabad High Court seeking security.

When the MLA’s reaction was sought, he said, “My daughter is an adult and has a right to take a decision. She has not been threatened by any member of the family or any person associated with me.”
