Aiming to highlight several issues of ‘sluggish economy’, rising unemployment, farmers’ problems through ‘Bharat Bachao’ rally, Congress has gathered at Delhi’s Ram Lila Maidan. Party workers from across the country have arrived at the capital to attend.

The rally of the Congress party was earlier scheduled to be held on November 30 but was later postponed to December 14 in view of the Winter Session of the Parliament, which concluded on Friday.

Present in the rally are Congress interim president Sonia Gandhi, former prime minister Manmohan Singh, Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, Former finance minister and senior Congress leader P Chidambaram.

“In six months, Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government has wrecked India’s economy. Yet ministers are completely clueless. Yesterday Finance Minister said everything’s alright, we are on top of the world. The only thing she didn’t say was ‘achhe din aane wale hain’,” Chidambaram said at the Congress’ ‘Bharat Bachao’ rally.

When asked about BJP going to Election Commission over Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s “rape in India” remark, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhaghel said: “They should have gone to EC against Modi when he called Delhi ‘rape capital’. Deputy Chief Minister of Rajasthan, Sachin Pilot, also is in attendance. He said that the attention of people should be on issues that matter to them.

Sonia Gandhi said, “Congress will not step behind in fight against injustice, will fulfil our duty of saving the country, democracy till our last breath.

Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi said, “One who doesn’t fight against injustice in the country will be judged as a coward. If we remain silent, our revolutionary Constitution will be destroyed and country’s division will start.”

Congress party workers from across the country will be participating in this rally, which is being organised to highlight several issues including “sluggish economy, rising unemployment, and farmers’ problems.”

Former prime minister Manmohan Singh alleged that his successor Narendra Modi misled the people by making “lofty promises” which he “failed” to fulfil.

“Six years ago, Narendra Modi showed lofty promises to people. Now it has been proved that all these promises were false and he has failed in fulfilling all the promises made and the people of the country were misled,” he said.
