Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Thursday (October 31) said the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has no legendary freedom fighter of its own and therefore was forced to pay tribute to a dedicated Congress leader like Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.

“Sardar Patel was a dedicated leader of the Congress who believed in the party’s ideology. He was a close associate of Jawaharlal Nehru and strictly opposed the RSS. The BJP’s attempt to appropriate Sardar Patel and its tributes makes me happy,” tweeted Priyanka.

She said that the BJP’s actions makes two things clear — “1. The BJP has no legendary freedom fighter of their own; 2. Even enemies of icons like Sardar Patel are forced to revere him.”
