Sena minister rejects BJP's charge of owning illegal property

The opposition BJP on Fridayaccused Maharashtra minister and Shiv Sena leader Anil Parabof owning an illegal property in Mumbai, even as he refutedthe allegation.

BJP leader and former MP Kirit Somaiya claimed that onJune 27 last year, the Maharashtra Housing and AreaDevelopment Authority (MHADA) had issued a noticeto demolishthe illegal construction made by Parab in Gandhinagar area ofBandra.

“The MHADA had asked Parab to remove the illegalconstruction within 10 days of getting the notice. It alsosaid that if he failed to do so, it would demolish theproperty,” he said.

Somaiya sought to know from MHADA what action it hastaken in the last one year in the matter.

However, rejecting the allegation, Parab said therewas a political motive behind it.

“This is political vendetta. I dont know why theMHADA issued an order despite me not owning the property,” hetold reporters.

When asked about Union minister Ramdas Athawale onFriday meeting state Governor B S Koshyari to protest againstthe demolition of alleged illegal alterations at actor KanganaRanauts Bandra bungalow,Parab said,” Athawale should answerif he is okay with illegal constructions just because shehappens to be Kangana Ranaut.” “If there are allegations of drug consumption againsther, shouldnt that be probed?” he asked.
