Congress leader Rahul Gandhion Monday participated in a COVID-19 review meeting atMalappuram, which has been witnessing a spurt in positivecases of late.
In the past three days, Malappuram recorded the highestnumber of cases in the state– 1,399 on Sunday, 1,519 onSaturday and 1,025 cases on Friday. The meeting was held at the district collectorate.
The Wayanad MP reached here on Monday on athree-day visit to his constituency, spread over the threedistricts of Malappuram, Wayanad and Kozhikode districts.
After the review meeting, Gandhi handed over thekey of a newly built house to sisters– Kavya and Karthika,who had lost their parents and home in the Kavalaparalandslide in Malappuram last year.
Kerala had witnessed two major landslides atKavalappara in Malappuram and Puthumala in Wayanad districts,triggered by heavy rains in August last year in which at least113 people were killed in.
Congress leaders, including KPCC president MullapallyRamachandran and leader of opposition in the state assemblyRamesh Chennithala were among those who were present toreceive the former AICC president who landed at CalicutInternational airport in nearby Karipur around 12 noon.
Gandhi will be attending a Covid review meeting atWayanad and the district coordination committee meeting oncentral-sponsored schemes at Kalpetta civil station on Tuesdaymorning.
The Congress leader will visit MananthavadyCovid-19 hospital on October21 before leaving for Delhi fromKannur.
