Erode PMK leader dies of COVID-19

Senior PMK leader and DeputyChairman of the Erode District Panchayat Council Velusamy diedof coronavirus here, the Health department said on Sunday.

The 48-year old leader from Anandam Palayam village inBhavani was admitted to the Perundurai IRT Government MedicalCollege Hospital recently after testing positive for the virusand his end came on Saturday, officials said.

Velusamy was also a former state Deputy General Secretaryof PMK.


Party founder leader S Ramadoss condoled the death ofVelusamy, recalling that he had joined the party at a veryyoung age and rose to hold various positions through hardwork.

Meanwhile, the Inspector of Modakurichi Police stationtested positive on Saturday and had been admitted to thePerunduraiIRT Government Medical College Hospital, officialssaid.

In view of this, the station was disinfected on Sunday.
