1-year-old baby among 16 new COVID-19 patients in Mizoram


At least 16 more people, includinga one-year-old baby and four security personnel, have testedpositive for COVID-19 in Mizoram, pushing the states tally to4,275, an official said on Saturday.

Of the fresh cases, 11 were reported from Aizawl, twofrom Lawngtlai and one each from Lunglei, Siaha and Saitualdistricts.

“Five minors, including a one-year-old child, twoCentral Reserve Police Force (CRPF) employees and twopersonnel of Border Security Force and Assam Rifles were amongthe new patients,” the official said.

Four new patients have travel history, while 10 werediagnosed with the disease during contact tracing and it isyet to be ascertained how the remaining two contracted theinfection.

Barring one, 15 were asymptomatic, the official said.

Mizoram now has 82 active cases, while 4,185 peoplehave recovered from the disease and eight died.

The recovery rate among coronavirus patients in thestate currently stands at 97.92 per cent.

The state has so far conducted 1,86,098 sample tests,including 937 on Friday.
