Your Karma awaits you: Rahul to Modi on ‘brashtachari’ remark


Congress president Rahul Gandhi has responded in a stoic manner to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘brashtachari’ jibe at Rajiv on Saturday.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, alleging that the Congress is raking up the Rafale deal to tarnish his image, had said Rajiv Gandhi was termed Mr Clean but his life ended as Brashtachari No 1. “Your father was termed ‘Mr Clean’ by his courtiers, but his life ended as Bhrashtachari No. 1 (corrupt number 1).” He was addressing an election rally in UP.

Ragul Gandhi on Sunday tweeted, “The battle is over. Your Karma awaits you. Projecting your inner beliefs about yourself onto my father won’t protect you. All my love and a huge hug. Rahul”

The Congress had on Saturday responded saying that the PM was crossing all limits of decency.

Congress leader P Chidambaram said, “Mr Modi has crossed all limits of propriety and decency by defaming a man [Rajiv Gandhi] who died in 1991.”

Reminding Modi of a Delhi High Court order, Chidambaram said, “Does Mr Modi read anything at all? Does he know that the charge against Mr Rajiv Gandhi was thrown out by the High Court, Delhi as ‘completely baseless?’
